On the basis of a couple of live shows and
and this four song tape, Mishima is one of my
favourite bands. As if they were working from a
single brain, Mishima write songs with pulsating
rhythms and music that expresses their themes
as eloquently as their almost literary lyrics. On
"Lounge Radio", distorted single notes punctuate
guitar static; "you're like a radio on in an empty
room, talk, talk transistor, I could tune you out,
I do."
Mishima's Rhythm section is hypnotic, with
spacy bass and lots of cymbals on "Bullet Hole."
The band has recently added a keyboardist and
adopted great drummer Dan Swatek, ex of Frog
Machine.
