UGLY BEAUTY

this invigorating trio from NYC (now LA) was as catchy as a ballplayer on crack. they were:

Jerry DIRIENZO: vocals, electric guitar, & bass. (formerly of CELL, but who would know?!?, as well as LOTUS:LAND, now of DUCHESS)

Christy SCHNABEL: vocals & e.guitar. (also ex-LOTUS:LAND, now of DUCHESS)

Danny ELLEN: drums.

they, in addition to their non-U.S. purderous magina cassette, put out a 7" with two of those songs, have a song on L'AUTOMOBILE THE CAR, and were signed to Atlantic records who released their CD, The Sweetness. it was released on May 27, 1997 & was produced & engineered by Steve CHURCHYARD. our heroes were joined by Doug PETTY on keyboards & Monica TOROS on bass. it was recorded at Harold Dessau Studio in NYC & rumbo recorders & NRG recording studio in LA. the 11 tracks are: Seven Days, The Only Heroine, Bring Me Flowers, Forgotten, This Defeat, Faded Love, Way Down, Endless Stream, The Sweetness, LaLaLa, & Forgotten Too.

i saw them open for COME at CBGBs & was knocked over with glee, so to speak.

UGLY BEAUTY broke up, formed LOTUS:LAND, broke up, & formed DUCHESS. voila.
