MISHIMA

the boys... suicide of nationalsocialist family by yevgeni KHALDEY

these new bucks tore up montreal. they are/were:

liam MALONEY: elektruk bass & britspeak.

rory KENNY: elektruk gee-tar & britbritspeak.

dan SWATEK: drumbs. (ex FROG MACHINE)

nick ROBINSON: keyboards.

disco:

their first release (zoz008), a 4 song cassette, should be playing in a theatre near you (including Cabaret, of course). the second track, "Lounge Radio", was supposed to have appeared on p.m.r. cassette compilation #4 as well, but maybe we'll put it on #5. they also have a second 4 song cassette called "Mannequin Park" which is unfortunately out of print. their first CD is called Wake Up To Make Up and was released by Northern Assembly records in september 1998. their second full-length, Red Is The New Black and Blue, is out now on Cargo Records.

shows:

i'd urge you to come see these wise guys, if you can. they finished off a north american tour in spring 2001, but it seems as if they're either on an extende hiatus (while rory is in ireland) or that they've broken up. (!) i sure hope it's the former, but we'll see...

in the meantime, Liam & Nick are picking up the torch with a new band called THE MODEL CHILDREN. yaaaaassss...

they opened up for the infamous HALF JAPANESE a while ago. some years ago they played a great show with me buds The ARCHERS OF LOAF and TUSCADERO at montreal's premier venue, Cabaret. recently they opened for BLONDE REDHEAD at Foufounes.

these guys kick ass. they're young, they're all about momentum, they're getting more and more brilliant by the minute, blah blah blah blah... they used to garner a lot of comparisons to bands such as SONIC YOUTH and PAVEMENT, but have outgrown such pigeonholing. karen BLISS from Jam! Music says: "yum yum yum. they rip apart sound barriers like toilet paper. no hari-kari, either." click here for another rave review, or click here for their home page which is chock full of good stuff.
