HOWARD NORTH

this formative Montreal supergroup is sadly no more. they were:

Jonah BRUCKER-COHEN: drums & throat.

Ethan HOLDA: throat & electric guitar.

Gabe LEVINE: e. guitar & throat. (now of BLACK OX ORKESTRAR, SACKVILLE, and OMA MIEP, and at one point of NERDY GIRL)

Harris NEWMAN: e. bass & throat. (formerly of Toronto's MUDFISH, MILKEN and SACKVILLE)

disco:

they released one highly acclaimed 7" record. it contains three songs - "Song #8", "Seventy", and "Gin Breeding". appreciative reviews were dished out by CMJ & montreal's top-notch derivative records. it is available through yrs truly, derivative, or vinyl ink record store. keep your eyes out for a possible upcoming self-released cassette of their other fine material.

shows:

yrs truly is very proud to have personally known these fine young musicians during the first 2/3 of their existence. those who were lucky enough to attend their shows (the most infamous being the opening slot for THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION) will surely remember their `hit' song, "Judge Irwin is Innocent."

here are three live videos for you:

Howard North show @ Cafe Campus, 1995

Howard North show @ Purple Haze, 1994

Howard North show @ Foufounes Electriques, 1995

yrs truly was in the priviliged position of being directly above their practice spot. yrs truly even owns the first ever recording of their material - their first song, "gasoline" - so early that Ethan wasn't around yet (on 1 track hand tape recorder). will maybe release it one day (if it is unearhed from the rubble, and if they let it happen!!!)
