it's from 1990 on Nemesis Records / Cargo Records, and is the pre-DRIVE LIKE JEHU / ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT / HOT SNAKES / NIGHT MARCHERS band of Rick FORK & John REIS! if yr a fan of this lineage of great rock bands, and you listen to vinyl - need i really finish this sentence? :P

Cecil SEASKULL, formerly of the influential Montréal band BITE, later (nowadays) an author in her own right, released a few records in the 90s such as this 6 song 10", recorded with Gordon HASHIMOTO. MECCA NORMAL meets Madonna CICCONE meets some witty girl band whose name eludes me at the moment...

!*! the detachment kit - 'Attacks on Bright America' 10" (self-starter foundation)

their intense first release, a 5 song 10" from 2001. it's worth it just for the cover alone - an off-center red outline of the U$ on a black background with a red crosshairs target just off the Ea$t Coa$t. then there's the music - as Epitonic write, "their music is full of dramatic loud-soft snaps, skeletal guitar structures a la second wave punk acts like WIRE, and a healthy dose of brash, snotty attitude reminiscent of the THE PIXIES. Like LES SAVY FAV, an acknowledged influence, THE DETACHMENT KIT masterfully balances hooks and aggression, melody and dissonance."
